Honda Launched Three New Retro-Styled e-Mopeds For China

Mopeds are pedal supported lightweight electric bikes which have a top speed of 25 km/h. The three different e-Mopeds presented by Honda are: Cub e:, Dax e: and Zoomer e.

Honda has been releasing several retro-inspired models recently, such as the Hawk 11 cafe racer and the CB650R neo-retro bike. Even their flagship superbike, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP, has a paint scheme reminiscent of the original CBR900RR. Now, Honda has unveiled three new electric mopeds - the Cub-e, Dax-e: and Zoomer-e

These e-Mopeds draw styling inspiration from some popular petrol-powered Honda minibikes from the past. These electric mopeds come with pedal assistance and a maximum speed of 25k/h. Depending on the specific model, the range of the mopeds ranges from 64 km to 90 km on a single charge.

Starting with the Honda Cub-e:, which may be considered the most recognizable in terms of design and name among the new electric mopeds. The Cub-e draws its design inspiration from the original Honda Cub, which happens to be the best-selling two-wheeler in history.

The Honda Cub has been in continuous production since 1958 and received a modern update in 2018 with the Honda Super Cub C125. The Cub-e boasts a range of approximately 64 km on a single charge.

The Honda Monkey has been a popular choice for leisurely rides on two wheels for many years. Its slightly larger sibling, the ST70 (also known as the Dax). It served as the design inspiration for the Dax-e Moped. The Dax-e is capable of covering a distance of around 80 km on a single charge.

Finally, the Zoomer-e takes design inspiration from the Ruckus scooter, which is powered by a small 49cc engine and marketed as an off-road capable scooter, as evidenced by its blocky tire tread pattern. The Zoomer-e can cover nearly 90 km on a full charge. All three electric mopeds use an electric powertrain. These mopeds transmit power to the rear wheel via a chain final drive, while also featuring pedal assistance in case the battery runs out. The maximum speed for all three models is 25 km/h, and at the moment, they are only available in the Chinese market with no plans for global distribution.
