Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer Filed for Patent in India: Launch Soon?

On 2 August 2022, 4 months after the global premiere of the Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) filed for a patent application in India. Hawk 11 is based on the same 1082 cc parallel-twin platform as Africa Twin. This new big bike is a retro-themed cafe-racer bike. But this bike hitting the Indian roads soon is still a question.

Though Honda may be reserving its interests for India and hinting at an impending launch by filing for a patent, if there is a market for it, Honda may launch it someday. Alternatively, they may have only casually patented it in India. Given that Honda owns numerous unrealised patents in India, we would place our bets on the latter.

Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer

Honda debuted this stylish cafe racer motorcycle for the first time at the 2022 Osaka Motorcycle Show. This is the spiritual successor to Honda's CB1100 Roadster, which is no longer offered globally. It's noteworthy to note that Honda submitted a patent application for the Hawk 11 motorcycle only a few months after its release.

Its stunning appearance pays homage to vintage cafe racers while incorporating contemporary design elements. The front of the vehicle has a bikini-style shield covering a round LED headlight. Beyond the breadth of its clip-on handlebars are the round ORVMs. A short subframe and a frame that is somewhat visible through the bodywork are present. Front USD forks, a dual disc setup up front, alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, and other parts are included in the componentry. The exhaust is very hefty and slopes upward at an angle similar to that of the subframe.

Specs & Features

It is built on the same 1082 cc parallel-twin engine, which produces 104 Nm of torque at 6250 RPM and about 100 bhp of power at 7500 RPM. It has a 6-speed gearbox, liquid cooling, and other features that one would anticipate for the price. After the NT1100 and Africa Twin, the Honda Hawk 11 is the third motorcycle built on this chassis. The latter is similarly set aside for India, a country that never existed.

Honda Hawk 11 is priced in JDM for 13,97,000 Yen or approximately Rs. 8.94 lakhs. Honda premium tax in India as well as other duties in India, should be taken into account while estimating the price. Similar to the Honda Hawk 11, another vintage motorcycle is currently popular in this price range. Suzuki makes the Katana. The neo-retro motorcycles Katana and Hawk 11 both have bikini-style fairings. Hawk 11 would be a suitable opponent if Honda wanted to pit a gorgeous adversary against Katana. HMSI has not yet confirmed a launch.
