Honda has geared up to enter the Indian EV market. In FY2023–24, the company is set to launch two new products in the electric two-wheeler market, according to its recently published detailed strategy.
These two scooters will be built on Honda's recently created Platform “E.” One of these items will be the electric version of the iconic Activa 6G. According to the company's CEO in a conversation, the first electric vehicle (EV) would be based on Honda's current platform. Honda's Activa brand is the most well-known among all scooters in India, and using this moniker for the company's first EV makes sense both commercially and logically.
According to Honda’s comprehensive proposal, one of these EVs will be a mid-range, fixed battery model, while the other will feature swappable battery functionality. Although it hasn’t been officially confirmed, we already know which of these will be the Activa EV. It will have a fixed-type battery and a top speed of about 50 kmph. However, the battery and motor details won’t be made public until closer to the scheduled launch. We also want to learn more about Activa electric’s body style and feature set.
Honda's forthcoming electric two-wheelers will be made in-country at its Narsapura plant in Karnataka to keep production costs low. By using this facility, the Japanese company hopes to produce one million more electric vehicles by 2030.
Honda is also planning to launch a new 350cc Adventure Bike by Diwali. Read more about this new bike now!
