The 2024 Jawa Perak and 42 Bobber are powered by the same 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. Their engines are coupled to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch. The Jawa Perak engine produces 29.5 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 30 Nm @ 5500 rpm. Meanwhile, the 42 Bobber's engine outputs 30.2 bhp and 32.74 Nm.
The difference in power is mainly due to the larger throttle body and exhaust ports in the 42 Bobber. Moreover, both Jawa bikes feature telescopic front forks and a seven-step preload-adjustable rear monoshock. They also have 280mm front and 240mm rear ByBre disc brakes with dual-channel ABS for added safety. Jawa Perak fuel tank capacity is 13.2 litres, and 42 bobber has 12.5 Litres.
The 2024 Perak could have been even better with an improved instrument cluster. The current one has problems with reading in bright sunlight, and the small digital part only shows the odometer readings. A better-placed console with more info on the digital part would have been helpful. While adding alloy wheels is good for accessibility, Jawa could have also worked on refining the engine and making the instrument console easier to read.
The CEO of Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, Ashish Singh Joshi, said, “The Jawa Perak quickly became one of our top-selling models, a testament to India’s growing aspirational market. The 42 Bobber only cemented our segment domination further. The bobber mindset is an acquired one; you either have it or don’t. You must ride it to know if you have it. That said, the Jawa Perak’s new design does tempt you over to the dark side!”
