Yamaha India is all ready to launch the twin-cylinder R3 & MT-03 in India in December on the sidelines of the first Indian MotoGP race.
Since the implementation of BS6 emissions norms in early 2020, the R3 has not been for sale in India. Now that Yamaha is bringing back its parallel twin sport bike, it will be accompanied by its MT-03 street bike brother.
Yamaha will initially be launched here as CBU imports from Indonesia & Yamaha further intends to switch to CKD production. Given this, it is reasonable to assume that these motorcycles will be expensive, with price starting over Rs. 4 Lakhs. The new Yamaha R3 has many changes, including a new look, LED headlamps & a USD fork. The previous-generation Yamaha R3 was priced at Rs 3.5 Lakhs.
The MT-03 is effectively the naked version of R3 with main chassis & 321cc parallel twin engine, producing 42 bhp. Before this, the MT-03 has never been sold in India. Both the Yamaha R3 & the MT-03 will be sold through the company's exclusive Blue Square dealer network.
