This Activa electric conversion has a 2.88kWh prismatic cell battery costing Rs. 55 000
The Honda Activa is one of most buyers' undoubtable choices in the scooter segment. With 6 generations of heritage and fans, Activa has come a long way. However, the units of Honda Activa sold in December 2022 keep the figure of 1 Lakh. On the other hand, the other fact says Activa dominates the scooter segment with a 50% market share. The CEO of HMSI recently confirmed that its first electric scooter, planned for launch in January 2024. Since Activa fans, eagerly waiting for an electric version of Activa feel disappointed as the period of 1 year seems really long. However, they still have the choice to convert their existing Activa to an electric version. Yes, there are many kits available in the market. Let's look at a neat conversion done in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh.
A modder from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, leading Diy Tech YouTube channel in Telugu, has neatly converted a stock ICE Activa into an electric scooter. All modifications seem perfectly combined with each other and look solid perfection. Except for a few green and E-vehicle stickers, it becomes difficult for people to notice the conversion.
The modder, working on an old Honda Activa, replaced the engine with an electric motor and battery. The propulsion and power received from the hub motor mounted on the rear wheel. According to the modder, this motor, rated for 1 kW of continuous power and 2 to 2.5 kW of peak power. While the capacity of the battery is 2.88 kWh. In addition, the battery can work at 72V and 40A units with prismatic cells.
The modder promises a range of more than 120 km on a single charge. While the maximum speed, limited to 55 km/h. The modder explains that an intelligent BMS (battery management system) is given on the instrumental console along with a full sine wave intelligent motor controller. The latter contributes to the operation of the engine without vibrations. "Smart" in intelligent BMS allows you to connect with a smartphone to display various vehicle information. The motor controller has three speeds that can be switched using a special switch. A park mode switch also cuts power to the engine when turned on. Indications or notifications for both are displayed on the fully digital instrument cluster.
This Electric Activa conversion replaces the standard Activa's analogue hardware with an all-digital one. It displays a ton of information, including engine RPM. Since the engine starter is not needed, the starter switch has now been converted to a horn. The engine on the stock Activa is mounted on a swingarm. Now, a new swingarm with double shock absorbers was needed. The standard Activa gets a single-sided mono-shock. Modder hasn't revealed the battery compartment and boot space, but the charging point is near the footrest.
According to the modder, this transformation costs Rs. 1 lakh, including the base variant. Since the most costly component is the battery. The battery alone costs more than half of the price of this e-scooter. According to this modder, charging overnight is enough to keep the battery healthy, and he doesn't often recommend fast charging. At last, the people interested in opting for this conversion should know that it has a battery warranty of 3 years.

Hero MotoCorp & Ather Energy have formed a strategic partnership with an aim to expand the EV Public charging infrastructure across 100 cities across India. This dynamic collaboration will address the key concern of accessibility & convenience for the Indian EV owners. Through this collab, there is a major possibility of fast and reliable charging points being available almost everywhere. LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System)The most important part of this collaboration is the development of a Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS). This has already been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This is an advanced system that integrates AC & DC combined charging connectors, creating a unified and user-friendly experience. 1900 Fast-Charging PointsAt the heart of this partnership lies the ambitious plan to establish 1900 strategically located fast-charging points. This extensive network prioritises a seamless and qualitative charging experience for EV users. User-centric mobile applications like Ather and My VIDA empower users with real-time information and navigation to the nearest charging stations. LECCS's open standard fosters collaboration amongst different OEMs, contributing to a unified charging infrastructure. This not only simplifies the charging process but also lays the groundwork for future expansion. LECCS stands as a testament to the agility and scalability required to meet the growing demands of the EV market. The exponential growth in charging infrastructure, driven by the efforts of Hero MotoCorp, Ather Energy, and other players, is more than just a numerical milestone. It signifies a significant evolution in India's EV infrastructure landscape. The selection of 100 cities for LECCS expansion is no mere coincidence. It reflects a deliberate and strategic approach aimed at building a comprehensive and accessible charging network that anticipates the future growth of EV adoption. As India embarks on its journey towards an electric future, the Hero MotoCorp and Ather Energy partnership stands as a beacon of progress. This collaborative and unifying effort is paving the way for the establishment of the largest EV charging ecosystem in the country. This partnership is not just a confluence of resources; it's a collaboration with the ambition to lead the charge towards a sustainable future. The major highlights of this exciting 2024 Honda Grom upgrade include - New HeadlightNew Paint SchemeNew Belly Pan New Modern & Edgy Look In terms of mechanics, the bike hasn’t changed at all. The 2024 Honda Grom continues to source its power from the 125 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. This highly responsive engine is further tuned to a 5-speed gearbox for smooth operations. The dimensions of the bike remain unchanged, too. Additionally, the suspension duties continue to be handled by USD forks at the front & mono-shock at the rear for the smoothest driving experience. In terms of comfort, the new 2024 Grom is fitted with a spacious single seat, offering the utmost comfort to the rider and the pillion.
