BMW Unveiled Two New Models — BMW R18 Roctane and R12 nine T

The two new BMW bikes will be launched Internationally and in India as well.

BMW unveiled two new motorcycles, BMW R8 Octane and R12 Nine T, for the International Market. BMW R18 Roctane Bagger is a variant of the R18 cruiser motorcycle, while the BMW R12 nine T roadster is an updated version of the popular R nine T line of motorcycles.

R18 Roctane - Engine & Design

The Roctane variant is a fully-blacked-out bagger, while the regular R18 is more of a classically-styled cruiser with spoked wheels and sufficient use of chrome all throughout. The Roctane's side cases have a capacity of 27 liters each and come standard with a comfortable single-piece seat for both rider and pillion.

The Roctane uses the same air-cooled, 1802cc, horizontally-opposed twin as the base R18 model. This engine is known for its massive torque output of 158Nm at just 3,000rpm, which should provide plenty of low-end grunts for relaxed cruising and passing maneuvers. The Roctane's 91 hp output is not as impressive as some other large-displacement cruisers, but it is fine for riding situations. 

BMW R12 nine - Engine & Design

All the details regarding the bikes are not available yet. There are already some visible changes to the bike. The relocation of the LED tail light to a more conventional spot at the back of the bike. It makes make it easier for other drivers to see the bike from behind, improving safety. The Digi-analogue speedometer revisions may also make it easier for the rider to read important information at a glance.

Redesigned exhaust tips are also common changes in motorcycle updates and can have aesthetic and performance benefits. It's possible that the new exhaust tips on the R12 nine T roadster could improve the bike's sound and possibly its power output as well.

 The wait will be over in the second half of 2023 to see what other changes BMW has in store for the R nine T range of bikes. Overall, it seems like BMW is continuing to refine and improve its popular line of retro-styling motorcycles.
