Bajaj Swing and Bajaj Genie Names Trademarked

Bajaj Auto, a company with partnerships with Triumph and KTM, is focused on enhancing and broadening its own range of products. The company has recently registered new trademarks for Bajaj Genie and Bajaj Swing as part of its efforts.

Names Trademarked by Bajaj

A few names are registered by Bajaj, including Bajaj Genie and Bajaj Swing. Additionally, earlier this year, the company registered three more names in March: Bajaj Aura, Bajaj Racer, and Bajaj H. However, it still needs to be made clear whether Bajaj Genie and Bajaj Swing are named for scooters or motorcycles.

These are the new trademarks meant for titles. The Bajaj Genie trademark application was filed in April 2023, while Bajaj Swing was filed in May 2023. Currently, all trademark applications are marked as 'Formalities Chk Pass'. The process of obtaining a trademark involves several stages, with the final one being the approval status showing as 'Registered'.

An example is the previous registration of names like Bajaj Tecnica and Bajaj Technik, which are still acceptable until 2032. Obtaining a Trademark creates problems sometimes, such as objections from other parties who have a similar or identical trademark name. Additionally, the company may choose to abandon some trademark applications. These factors contribute to why OEMs register multiple trademarks.

Bajaj Presence in the Three Wheeler Market 

Bajaj Genie and Bajaj Swing may likely be the names of new electric 3-wheelers or rickshaws. Bajaj is currently developing their first electric 3-wheeler, as it already has a dominant presence in the ICE 3-wheeler market with a market share exceeding 70%. Bajaj has yet to launch an electric 3-wheeler in the market, while competitors like Mahindra and Piaggio are already in the lead. 

However, Bajaj is expected to release their first electric rickshaw later this year, as a test model was spotted in February. In February, some interesting features were observed in the Bajaj electric rickshaw. These included a fully digital instrument cluster with two dials and a lockable storage compartment. The rickshaw is anticipated to have a range of 120 km, though battery charging time may vary.
