Bajaj Auto has witnessed a remarkable surge in sales during May 2023, with impressive growth in both domestic and export markets. The company reported a substantial 29% Year-over-Year (YoY) increase in total sales, comprising two-wheelers and commercial vehicles. Despite declining exports of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles during the April-May 2023 period, Bajaj Auto achieved a commendable 17% Year-to-Date (YTD) growth.

The domestic sales of two-wheelers soared by an astonishing 103% in May 2023, with sales reaching 1,94,811 units compared to 96,102 units in May 2022. However, exports of two-wheelers witnessed a YoY decline of 26%, with 1,12,885 units exported in May 2023 as opposed to 1,53,397 units in the same period last year.

Consequently, the total sales of two-wheelers in May 2023 stood at 3,07,696 units, marking a 23% YoY growth from 2,49,499 units in May 2022. Notably, the Bajaj Pulsar secured the third position on the list of top-selling bikes in April 2023, while the Boxer dominated the export market.

In the commercial vehicle segment, both domestic and global sales experienced an impressive YoY growth of 80%, with 47,452 units sold in May 2023 compared to 26,369 units in May 2022. 

Domestic, commercial vehicle sales soared by 107%, with 35,590 units sold in the past month, surpassing the 16,206 units sold in May 2022. Export figures also showed an increase of 36%, with 13,862 units exported in May 2023 as opposed to 10,163 units in May 2022.

Consequently, the total sales (domestic + exports) of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles recorded a substantial 29% YoY growth, totalling 3,55,148 units in May 2023, compared to 2,75,868 units in May 2022, reflecting volume growth of 79,280 units.

In terms of year-to-date sales from April to May 2023, Bajaj Auto achieved an overall 17% growth. Two-wheeler sales in the domestic market witnessed a remarkable 99% increase, with 3,76,639 units sold during the April-May 2023 period compared to 1,89,335 units in the same period in 2022. 

However, exports of two-wheelers experienced a decline of 36%, with 2,19,042 units exported compared to 3,41,875 units in the April-May 2022 period. This resulted in a 12% YoY growth in the total two-wheeler sales, totalling 5,95,681 units in April-May 2023, compared to 5,31,210 units in the same period in 2022.

Meanwhile, commercial vehicle sales in the domestic market recorded an outstanding 158% YoY growth, with 64,934 units sold, while exports witnessed a 15% decline, with 25,811 units shipped. Overall, the total commercial vehicle sales in April-May 2023 increased by 64%, totalling 90,745 units compared to 55,432 units in the corresponding period last year.

Consequently, the combined sales of domestic two-wheelers and commercial vehicles during April-May 2023 reached 4,41,573 units, marking a significant 106% growth compared to 2,14,485 units sold in April-May 2022. However, exports declined by 34%, with 2,44,853 units exported in the same period in 2023, down from 3,72,157 units in April-May 2022. Overall, Bajaj Auto achieved a commendable 17% growth in total sales during April-May 2023, totalling 6,86,426 units compared to 5,86,642 units in the corresponding period last year.
