Bajaj Auto also disclosed its sales numbers for the previous month. Domestic sales volume have been strong, but exports of both two-wheelers and commercial vehicles have been disappointing.
Bajaj Auto: YoY (Year-Over-Year) Sales March 2023
In March 2023, Bajaj Auto's two-wheeler revenue reached 2,47,002 units. However, it represented a 4% decrease from the 2,56,324 units sold in March 2022. That was, nevertheless, a rise from the 2,35,356 units sold in February 2023.
Sales revenue increased by 42 per cent to 1,52,287 units in March 2023, slightly higher than 1,07,081 units in March 2022. Bajaj Auto's best-selling motorbikes include the Pulsar, Platina, CT, Dominar, Avenger, and the Chetak electric scooter.
However, total revenue was down due to fewer exports, which fell 37% year on year. As a result, exports declined from 1,49,243 units in March 2022 to 94,715 units in the previous month.
Commercial sales volumes had a similar trajectory. Domestic sales increased by 74% to 34,235 vehicles in March 2023, jumping from 19,671 units in March 2022. Exports dropped by 51% the previous month to 10,330 units from 21,193 units in March 2022.
As a result, overall revenue in this category increased by 9% to 44,565 units in March 2023, increasing from 40,864 units in March 2022.
Overall domestic sales (2W + CV) grew by 47 % in the last month to 1,86,522 units, up from 1,26,752 unit sales in March 2022, whereas exports (2W + CV) declined by 38 per cent to 1,05,045 units.
As a result, it reduced total revenue (domestic + exports) by 2% to 2,91,567 units in March 2023, dropping from 2,97,188 units in March 2022.
FY2023 (Fiscal Year) Bajaj Auto Total Sales
Bajaj Auto closed the fiscal year 2023 with lower margins. As a result, two-wheeler sales fell 10% in FY 2022-23 to 34,42,839 units, falling from 38,36,856 units sold in FY 2021-22.
Domestic Sales volumes in this section increased by 10% to 18,05,883 units in FY 2022-23, up from 16,41,084 units sold last year. Nevertheless, exports dropped significantly by 25% to 16,36,956 units in FY 2022-23, from 21,95,772 in FY 2021-22.
In the fiscal year 2022-23, commercial vehicle sales increased 87% to 3,00,734 units, especially in the domestic markets. On the other hand, exports declined by 41% to 1,84,284 units, raising combined revenue by 3% to 4,85,018 units in the fiscal year 2022-23 from 4,71,577 in the fiscal year 2021-22.
Cumulative YTD (Year to Date) sales fell by 9% to 39,27,857 units in FY 2022-23, falling from 43,08,433 units sold during that exact period last year.
