Bajaj Auto January Sales Report: Domestic Sales Improve But Declines in Export Sales

Given the difficulty in Africa, which accounts for a sizable portion of Bajaj Auto's global sales, the company's exports have suffered exponentially. However, the dollar's decline also had an effect on its exports.

Thanks to its global exposure, which accounts for over half of its sales, Bajaj Auto has always worked to prevent itself from potential risks from regional unrest. As a result, the company sold 140,428 two-wheelers on the local market in January 2023, while exports were 100,679 units.

On the one hand, domestic wholesales increased by 16% over the previous month and by 4% YoY. However, on the other hand, on a YoY basis, exports were down 46%, and monthly, they were down 17%. As a result, domestic sales in FY2023 ranged from a high of 233,838 units in August to a low of 93,233 units in April 2022.

The performance has been declining recently on the exports front, and a closer look at the period from April 2022 to January 2023 reveals that the exports decreased in five months. As a result, the exports for FY2023 peaked at 190,865 units in June of that year, reaching their lowest point in January.

Domestic sales of three-wheelers have increased for the corporation, with a YoY jump of 87% between April and January. However, exports fell by 40% year over year. As a result, 32,842 units were purchased wholesale for the domestic market in January 2023, and 12,046 units were purchased for the international market.

Due to difficulties in the African continent, which accounts for a sizable portion of Bajaj Auto's global sales, the company's exports have suffered. However, the dollar's decline also had an effect on its exports. In addition, the slowdown in entry-level products on the domestic market has had an impact on both two- and four-wheeler manufacturers.
