Auto Expo 2023: India’s First Ever Self-balancing Electric Scooters Breaks Cover!

Liger Mobility, based in Mumbai, revealed its self-balancing electric scooters at the 2023 Auto Expo. The e-scooters, dubbed Liger X and Liger X Plus, come with a slew of novel characteristics that are unheard of in our market:

FootFreeStop: Because of its self-balancing technology, riders don’t have to put their feet down while riding through traffic or coming to a halt.

ReverseRide: You don’t have to use your feet at all when revering the e-scooter.

LearnerMode: Because the Liger balances itself, it is an excellent medium for learning. In addition, the top speed is limited in this mode to guarantee safety.

The Liger electric scooter’s AutoBalance feature is also well-designed. The feature goes into standby mode at higher speeds and activates at low speeds or when the e-scooter is stationary. Furthermore, even at moderate speeds, the rider can manually activate or deactivate the device based on their needs.

Liger Mobility has not published the technical specs of the e-scooters, but both will feature a claimed top speed of 65kmph & liquid-cooled battery packs. While the X models will have a detachable battery with a stated range of 60 kilometers and a charge time of three hours, the X Plus will have a non-detachable unit with a claimed range of 100 kilometers and a charging time of 4.5 hours. In addition, the company will provide fast charging on both models as an optional extra.

Liger X

The Liger X and Liger X Plus have GPS capabilities, 4G connectivity, and a specialized app that displays essential information and offers tow/theft detection, servicing reminders, and even accident alarms. The top-tier Liger model will also include a TFT console with navigation and call/SMS notifications.

Liger Mobility’s design is also distinctive, combining vintage and contemporary components. The triangle headlight with the horizontal DRL and digital console adds modernity to the design, even though the e-shape scooters are rather archaic.

Liger X Plus

Bookings should start by the middle of 2023 for the Liger X and Liger X Plus, which will be available for purchase later this year. Although the business has not officially commented on the devices’ prices, we anticipate that they will each cost Rs 1.5 lakh (X) and Rs 1.75 lakh (X Plus).
