Off-road aficionados will be happy to learn that the Honda XRE300 ADV will be on display at Auto Expo 2023. As part of its benchmarking effort, the bike was spotted testing alongside the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310GS in October of last year.
Given the rising popularity of entry-level ADVs in India, the Honda XRE300 ADV debut there is a strong possibility. However, prior to its debut, Honda already had the XRE 300 trademark registered in India.
As a true dual-sport bike, the Honda XRE300 ADV will compete better with bikes that are more geared toward the road, like the KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310 GS. The bike's lofty stance is what draws our eye right away. The remainder of the bike has a thin profile, with the exception of the front fairing, which seems to add some mass.
Full LED lighting, a raised fender beak, an aggressive headlamp cowl, a sculpted fuel tank, a digital instrument dashboard, an under-seat exhaust, and a luggage rack are a few of the Honda XRE300 ADV's standout features. With the handlebar pulled back and the footpegs set in the middle, the riding position appears to be fairly comfortable. However, the handlebar is raised to the proper height for the best balance and control while standing on the footpegs.
A 291.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor in foreign countries like Brazil powers the Honda XRE300 ADV. A flex-fuel engine, it can run on both gasoline and ethanol. It is coupled to a 5-speed transmission. The engine produces a maximum of 25.4 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and a maximum of 27.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm when it is powered by gasoline. However, the figures marginally rise to 25.6 horsepower and 28 Nm when using ethanol.
The kit includes certain items designed especially for off-road tracks. It has wire-spoke wheels and a distinctive handlebar brace. The bike has two wheels with knobby dual-purpose tyres, one at the front and one at the back, each measuring 21 inches.
The vehicle's off-roading capabilities are enhanced with telescopic front forks with 245 mm and a rear mono-shock with 225 mm of travel. The 259 mm of high ground clearance is another positive aspect. Both ends of the motorcycle have disc brakes, and dual-channel ABS is a standard feature.
Although most aspects appear to be fine, the seat's 860 mm height may present accessibility challenges. This is especially valid for riders who are shorter. In addition, easy access to the ground is required in an off-road setting to avoid frequent falls and collisions. Honda XRE300 is taller than KTM 390 Adventure at 860 mm.
The Honda 300cc Adv Motorcycle does, however, gain from having a body that is only 148 kg reasonably light. KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310GS, two competitors, weigh 177 kg and 175 kg, respectively. Moreover, the Honda XRE300 ADV has a starting price of BRL 25,600 in Brazil (approx. Rs 4.08 lakh). Therefore, the bike could be introduced in India for close to Rs 3 lakh.
