TVS may expand its range of electric scooters with an update to its popular iQube model. The company plans to launch an entry-level version with fewer features and a smaller battery pack. The brand aims to make iQube more affordable and attractive for Indian consumers.
The move is in response to the rising cost of electric vehicles following the removal of FAME 2 subsidies, which has made EVs more expensive. To counter this, many EVs have introduced various non-budget features to maintain sales growth amid customer concerns.
Also, following the success of its initial power supply, TVS Motors aims to launch several new iQube models in the next financial year. In addition, the company plans to expand the range of electric vehicles by introducing electric three-wheelers.
K N Radhakrishnan, director and CEO of TVS Motor Company, said, “We will be announcing multiple options in TVS iQube to provide appropriate range and price combinations with different battery capacity to our customer because this is very very critical, this is also our insight from our customer understanding.”
Furthermore, he also said that the TVS X deliveries will start in May 2024, “we are reaching out to those who booked, and they are very excited with the ride experience they got, and we are starting deliveries in the next few weeks.”
Radhakrishnan also disclosed that the upcoming iQube variants will include various battery care and are expected to hit the market as soon as next month. However, specific details about these necessities and price options are currently unknown. It's uncertain whether these new variants will include the previously announced iQube ST, which was unveiled more than two years ago.
