Due to the two wheels of a motorcycle, there is always a risk of falling. The majority of the time, the rider's backside will come into contact with the asphalt, whether by accident or due to the negligence of a careless car driver. Hence, the first airbag jeans in the world have been developed by a Swedish clothing company, “Mo'cycle”. The vision behind this development is to protect the rider's lower body in the event of a crash.
According to Mo'cycle's website, "The jeans are created of water repellent, breathable, and abrasion resistant fabric. Furthermore, they are just as comfortable as any other pants."
Airbag riding jackets or racing suits are not unheard of. We have already seen them in MotoGP races. MotoGP riders wear suits with airbags in them. Like those, the airbag riding jeans consist of a replaceable CO2 cartridge that releases the gas when the rider starts falling from their bike.
The jeans must be connected to the bike for them to be able to detect a fall. Mo'cycle uses an elastic tether that allows movement on the bike while still attached. This indicates that the motorcycle requires no extra modifications to connect the tether.
The tether is pulled apart and separated from the jeans as the rider begins to fly off the seat due to an impact. At this point, the pants' airbags are activated and blow up.
As a result, the $499 (roughly Rs. 41,300) airbag pants offer more than enough security. They will debut this year via an Indiegogo crowdsourcing campaign.
