Yamaha places the greatest emphasis on their premium 2W range. Yamaha is currently the only 2W producer with sizable quantities that do not also provide affordable commuters or scooters. The YZF-R15, MT-15, and FZ-X are among the company's premium motorcycle models.
Yamaha is eager to bring back some of its respected names, such as RX, to India and is actively looking into methods to launch an ADV in the 125-155cc market as well. In addition, Yamaha is currently updating its line-up of high-end motorcycles for MY2023. In that context, new Editions of the Yamaha R15, MT15, and FZ-X will be released in 2023. So let's look at it.
Yamaha has introduced a new Aggressive Grey model for the R15 in Indonesia. The combination of the black USD forks, the grey base paint, and the neon streaks on the fairing looked spectacular. Alloys were all neon as well. Not the same Edition that Yamaha is introducing in India. Spy photos revealed that every R15 has golden USD forks.
Similar to Aggressive Grey, which was first introduced in Indonesia, the base colour is still grey with a few yellow splotches. However, Yamaha gives a golden finish rather than matching the colour of the alloy wheels with this Yellow. A comparable option is provided by the R15M World GP 60th Edition. Above the headlamp on the front fairing is a gloss black piece that resembles R15M Metallic Grey.
But the MT 15 New Edition for MY2023 receives a gloss black colour. It mimics Yamaha's Metallic Black colour. However, the Red alloys seen on the Ice Fluo - Vermillion version are added to the new edition. It isn't as eye-catching as the Cyan Storm variant's wheels, though. Yamaha had never before provided wheels with a combination of Metallic Black and Fluorescent Red.
For MY2023, a new edition of FZ-X will also be released. A few dealerships have received this new model ahead of time, and it has been photographed with the MY 2023 R15 and MT 15. It gets a new Blue colour and isn't similar to the Metallic Blue option on the Yamaha FZ-X. Instead, it is more akin to the Racing Blue colour that is available with the MT 15 and R15.
The new MY2023 FZ-X will include dual-channel ABS, something the outgoing model lacked. However, dual-channel ABS is probably available as standard equipment and is not just for this new edition. Despite this, Yamaha may decide to reserve dual-channel ABS for only this new edition and position it as the FZ-highest X's trim level.
R15 and MT-15 won't undergo any mechanical modifications. Dual-channel ABS will be added to the braking system of just the FZ-X. The 155cc liquid-cooled VVA engine in the R15 and MT 15 will continue to produce 18.4 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque when coupled to a 6-speed transmission. With a 5-speed gearbox, the FZ-X will continue to produce 12.4 BHP and 13.3 Nm of torque.
