In recent times, the popularity of ADV has skyrocketed. As a result, ADVs have emerged in a range of engine displacements and price points. We have been slowly observing this trend extend to scooters as well. Honda has also entered, with the Vario 125 being their most recent offering.
Honda announced the introduction a few days ago and has officially launched the scooter in Malaysia. As its name suggests, it is a 125 cc scooter and was introduced for RM 7,080 (in Malaysia), which is about Rs 1.3 lakh in India. The price may seem excessive as it might be the on-road price, including insurance.
The Honda Vario 125 shares the same looks as its other Vario Scooter lineup by the brand. We're discussing the Vario 150 and the Vario 160, neither of which are offered for purchase in India. The most expensive of these is the Vario 160, which costs RM 9,998. (approx Rs. 1.83 lakhs). Honda replaced the smaller 150cc model with a larger 160cc model, which is available alongside the newly introduced Vario 125.
The new Honda Vario 125 features a large front that exudes a lot of ferocity in terms of design. It has two headlights that have eye-inspired design elements on its aprons. These headlights have turn indicators and LED DRL parts that are lighted by LEDs. The handlebar cowl is left unadorned, and below the headlight is a prominent mudguard that resembles the ADV's beak in certain ways.
Sporty body panels and a sizable grab grip are present on the side. The seat appears to be rather cosy and offers the rider a lot of support. The rider will appreciate an ergonomically comfortable upright riding posture. The tail light has a solid appearance and completes the overall image.
The 2023 Honda Vario 125's key selling point is its 14-inch alloy wheels, which give it a commanding stance on the road. With its elevated seating position and a great view of the road, this is probably also its key attraction. The components include disc brakes up front with petal rotors, 90/80-14 front and 100/80-14 rear tyres, telescoping front forks, and more.
The swingarm-mounted, single-cylinder, 124.9 cc engine produces 11.74 Nm of torque at 5,000 RPM and 11.5 Bhp of power at 8,500 RPM. A CVT system handles transmission.
The top features of the 2023 Honda Vario 125 include the following -
HMSI has yet to make any announcements regarding the launch of the Honda Vario 125 in India. However, the brand has already patented the Vario in India, so it is anticipated to be launched soon. Launching in India, Vario will directly compete with the Yamaha Aerox 155.
