The giant 2W & 3W manufacturer, Bajaj Auto, witnessed a minor YoY decline in September 2023. Absolute total sales witnessed a YoY de-growth of just 1%, while YTD de-growth for the same attribute was significantly lesser. In september’23, the company sold 2,02,510 2W compared to 2,22,912 units sold last year. The numbers resulted in 9% of YoY degrowth with the loss of 20,402 units in volume. However, the sales was evened-out with 1,25,202 units exported compared to 1,25,443 units sold last year. The YoY volume loss in 2W exports was registered at merely 241 units. In total, Bajaj sold 3,27,712 2W vehicles, witnessing the fall by 6% YoY compared to 3,48,355 units sold last year. Concerning the CVs, Bajaj sold 50,683 units last month, registering a 60% YoY growth. This turned out to be Bajaj’s highest–ever domestic sales.  However, CV exports failed to reciprocate the same growth as domestic sales. Bajaj CV sales witnessed the fall by 3% with 14,162 units exported. These numbers totaled 3,92,558 units. However, exports and total witnessed a negligible decline in growth, registering 1% of de-growth as YoY analysis showed.   YTD Sales Report: September’23The YTD figures recorded in the Bajaj sales September 2023 charts are significantly profound as they provide a more complete picture of purchasing trends & patterns. In the 2W segment, 10,48,251 units were sold compared to 9,35,552 units sold last year, registering 12% of growth. Concerning the 2W exports, 7,22,662 units were exported by Bajaj. However, the numbers were lower compared to the units exported during the months of April & September 2022.  In total, Bajaj;s YTD 2W sales witnessed a fall by 5% with 17,70,913 units sold compared to 18,66,192 units sold last year. Bajaj acquired 1,19,202 units in volume in domestic CV sales, registering 107%  of growth. However, CV exports fell by 25% with 79,586 units exported compared to 1,06,807 units exported last year.  Total CV sales witnessed an impressive growth of 42% with 3,10,447 units sold. In total (2W + CV), 12,79,112 units were sold in the domestic market, witnessing 22% of growth. Bajaj is planning to bring back another legendary scooter brand, the Sunny. A concealed electric scooter prototype was seen testing in Pune.     These images demonstrate the intentions of the Pune-based company to revive the Sunny brand,  but in an electric vehicle (EV) version. Although the test mule was concealed, the body panels & general design are quite similar to the Sunny. A 60cc two-stroke scooter that was popular in India for many years. The Chetak is the sole electric scooter sold by Bajaj in India. This particular scooter, nevertheless, plays well in the premium side of the segment. Therefore, Bajaj could be aiming to debut in the sub-Rs. 1 Lakh price range with this new electric scooter. The new electric scooter is likely to be named Sunny. Spotted with a hub motor, the test mule has generally slender & compact proportions. The cover and round headlamp are borrowed from the older version of Sunny. Additionally, it appears that the company has developed a new e-scooter platform for this product. This new platform might have been manufactured in conjunction with Yulu, a ride-sharing company owned by Bajaj. The e-scooter is expected to witness its global launch next year. Bajaj Auto is reportedly gearing up to introduce the Pulsar NS400, a 400cc iteration of their iconic Pulsar series. Expected to make its debut in 2024, the NS400 aims to bridge the gap between the NS200 & the Dominar 400 in Bajaj's motorcycle lineup. Bajaj plans to position the Pulsar NS400 below the Dominar 400 in its product portfolio. This strategic placement aims to cater to riders seeking a middle-ground option within the Pulsar lineup. Intriguing Engine Choice One of the most surprising aspects of the upcoming NS400 is the engine choice. Instead of opting for the 399cc engine from the KTM 390 Duke, Bajaj will employ the trusted 373cc engine from the Dominar series. This liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine churns out a formidable 39.4 BHP & 35 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. Chassis & Design UpgradesThe NS400 will feature a modified NS200 chassis adapted to accommodate the larger engine. This adaptation might result in a slightly heavier frame but promises to retain the sporty DNA associated with the NS range.
