TVS Motors Sales Report Reveals 6% YoY & 16% MoM Rise | Total Sales - 4,02,553 Units

TVS Motor Company had great sales in September. Compared to last year, they sold 6.21% more bikes and three-wheelers, totalling 4,02,553 units. That's a jump from 3,79,011 units sold in September 2022. Their sales also increased by 16.40% from August 2023, reaching 4,02,553 units.

In the motorcycle category, TVS sold 1,86,438 units in September 2023, up by 10.11% from the previous year. This is an increase of 17,166 units from September 2022. On a monthly basis, they sold 1,86,438 units, showing a 21.82% growth from August 2023.

Scooter sales were also impressive. They sold 1,55,526 units in September 2023, a 7.74% increase from last year. Month-on-month, the sales went up by 9.14% from August 2023. The best-selling scooter was the TVS Jupiter.

TVS iQube, their electric scooter, saw remarkable growth. Compared to last year, they sold 20,356 units in September 2023, showing a huge increase of 360.75%. However, there was a slight dip in sales from August 2023, by 14.78%.

On the downside, the TVS XL moped didn't perform as well. They sold 44,991 units in September 2023, which is a decrease of 6.37% from last year. But compared to August 2023, the sales improved by 23.06%.

In September 2023, TVS Motor Company's two-wheeler domestic sales reached 3,00,493 units, showing a significant 11.06% increase from the 77,851 units sold in September 2022. Month-on-month, the domestic sales also grew by 17.10% from 2,56,619 units in August 2023. These domestic sales now make up 77.66% of the market share.

On the export front, there was a noteworthy improvement, too. Year-on-year, exports increased by 11.06%, and month-on-month, there was a 14.53% growth, totalling 86,462 units in September 2023. Comparatively, in September 2022 and August 2023, 77,851 units and 75,491 units were exported, respectively.

Considering both domestic sales and exports, the total number of two-wheelers sold in September 2023 reached 3,86,955 units. When analysing the sales for the entire second quarter of this financial year, there was a 6% rise, reaching 10.31 lakh units from the 9.77 lakh units sold during the same period last year.

In the three-wheeler segment, TVS sold a total of 15,598 units in September 2023.

Domestic sales accounted for 1,766 units, which marked an 18.16% decrease from the 2,158 units sold in September 2022. However, there was a 3.03% month-on-month growth from 1,714 units in August 2023. On the export front, there was an 8.54% decline, with 13,832 units exported in September 2023 compared to 15,124 units in September 2022. Despite this, exports increased by 15.04% from 12,024 units in August 2023.

In September 2023, the combined sales of both two-wheelers and three-wheelers within the domestic market grew by 5.67%, reaching 3,02,259 units, compared to 2,86,036 units sold in the same period last year. On a month-to-month basis, the sales showed a substantial increase of 17% from 2,58,333 units in August 2023.

Additionally, exports of both two-wheelers and three-wheelers experienced positive growth. Year-on-year, exports rose by 7.87%, and on a monthly basis, there was a growth of 14.60%, totalling 1,00,294 units in September 2023. To put it in perspective, in September 2022, 92,975 units were exported, and in August 2023, 87,515 units were shipped.
