The BMW R 1300 RT is set to replace the R 1250 RT as the brand's premium touring motorcycle. Fresh details about this highly-anticipated model have surfaced, and the bike has also been spotted undergoing tests again in Europe.
In general, the BMW R 1300 RT will be driven by the same 1300cc boxer-twin engine that powers the R 1300 GS. At 7,750 rpm, this engine produces an amazing 145 bhp, and at 6,500 rpm, it can produce a maximum torque of 149 Nm. Through a shaft drive system that is coupled to a six-speed gearbox, power will be sent to the back wheel. Remarkably, BMW is reportedly working on an automatic gearbox for this model as well, which would be the first for the R 1300 RT.
The test prototype differs greatly from the original in terms of appearance. It has a glass windscreen, daytime running lights (DRLs), and an LED headlamp that is stacked vertically. However, the overall fairing design has been modified. The bike still maintains the hefty, intimidating look that touring motorcycles are known for. Additionally, according to spy photos, the R 1300 RT will include a top box and optional panniers, making it perfect for lengthy trips.
We anticipate that it will include traction control, ABS settings, and numerous riding modes. A huge TFT display with smartphone connectivity and more on the technological front. Additionally, BMW's renowned telelever suspension will be installed up front, improving handling and comfort while driving.
BMW intends to introduce the R 1300 RT to foreign markets by the beginning of 2025. It is expected to establish new benchmarks in the touring motorcycle industry thanks to its current features, striking look, and updated engine.
