One of the leading electric vehicle startups, Simple Energy has launched the OneS electric scooter in India at Rs 1,39,999. The Simple OneS replaces the Dot One electric scooter in the brand's lineup and now it becomes the entry-level scooter. Moreover, it is Rs 6,217 more affordable than the Dot One model which was priced at Rs 1,46,216 (ex-showroom). The Simple OneS offers a stated 181-kilometer range when fully charged and is powered by a 3.7kWh fixed battery pack. The indicated range has increased by 21 km, although the battery capacity remains the same as the Dot One. The scooter can reach its claimed high speed of 105 kmph due to its electric motor, which has a peak power output of 8.5kW. Additionally, it claims to complete the 0–40 kmph sprint in 2.55 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds faster than the Dot One and One.
The design approach of the Simple One and the Simple OneS is similar. It includes sharp body panels, a sloping seat with an elevated tail section, and the same angular headlamp. Overall, the scooter's design is rather athletic and attractive. Moreover, it is available in four colour options: Brazen Black, Azure Blue, Namma Red, and Grace White.
In terms of features, the Simple OneS has a 7-inch touch-sensitive TFT screen similar to the One model. There are four riding modes available: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. Moreover, these modes change the scooter's power output and range, plus there is a special reverse option.
For turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS notifications, over-the-air updates, and ride telemetry. Additionally, the TFT dash has smartphone connectivity through 5G eSim, WiFi, and Bluetooth. Park assist, regenerative braking, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are additional features.
The base of the OneS is the same as that of the Dot One. It has a monoshock and telescopic forks with 12-inch alloy wheels and street-oriented tyres. Additionally, this scooter has dual-disc brakes. For extra comfort, the Simple OneS has a seat height of 770 mm and 35 litres of underseat storage. Despite being a less expensive scooter than the "One," the OneS offers five more litres of underseat storage.
