In September 2023, Royal Enfield's total sales reached 78,580 units, indicating a 4.28% decrease compared to the 82,097 units sold in the corresponding month of the previous year, resulting in a reduction of 3,517 units. Nevertheless, when considering the month-to-month performance, there was a more optimistic trend, with sales showing a 1.29% improvement over August 2023 when 77,583 units were sold.

The demand for Royal Enfield's models with engine capacities up to 350cc showed significant growth. In September 2023, sales in this category increased by 9.56% compared to September 2022, rising from 69,023 units to 70,345 units. This boost resulted in substantial volume growth of 6,139 units, capturing an 89.52% market share. Royal Enfield recently introduced the new 2023 Bullet 350 in this segment.

The new model resembles its existing counterpart strongly but brings about some alterations, including fresh colour choices, a modified frame, and certain style enhancements. Additionally, it features the same engine that powers the Classic 350, Hunter 350, and Meteor 350. In the over-350cc category, the company offers models like the Super Meteor 650, Scram 411, and the 650 Twins.
In this category, sales increased by 4.36% YoY, with 8,235 units sold in September 2023 compared to 7,891 units in September 2022. However, compared to the 8,560 units sold in August 2023, there was a 3.80% MoM reduction. This segment is now holding a 10.48% market share.
In terms of overall domestic sales, there was a 0.84% YoY increase, with 74,261 units sold in September 2023, up from 73,646 units in September 2022. MoM, there was a 7.02% increase compared to the 69,393 units sold in August 2023.
In contrast, sales of bikes with engine sizes greater than 350cc fell 9.93% in FY24, with 50,790 units sold, down from 56,387 units in FY23. Focusing only on domestic sales, the company achieved significant YTD growth of 22.36% in FY24, totalling 416,887 units sold, compared to 340,709 units sold in FY23.
Year-to-Date Performance: Royal Enfield Sales and Exports
During the FY24 period, Royal Enfield achieved a combined total of 456,986 units in domestic sales and exports, marking a 15.70% increase compared to the 394,969 units sold during the same FY23 period. This growth corresponds to a significant volume increase of 62,017 units.
Bike sales in the sub-350cc category experienced a notable improvement of 19.97%, reaching 406,196 units in FY24 compared to 338,582 units sold in FY23. Conversely, in the over-350cc segment, sales declined by 9.93% to 50,790 units from the 56,387 units sold in FY23. When focusing solely on domestic sales, the company achieved a substantial year-to-date (YTD) growth of 22.36% in FY24, totalling 416,887 units, compared to 340,709 units sold in the same period of FY23.

Nevertheless, Royal Enfield experienced a decline in its exports during the initial half of this fiscal year, with exports decreasing by 26.10% to 40,099 units in FY24 compared to the 54,260 units sold in FY23.
