The most selling electric scooter manufacturer, Ola Electric, has just launched the upgraded version of its S1 Pro scooter. The Gen 3 model’s design is similar but features better performance and features.
It comes in two variants, including the 3kWh model, which costs Rs 1.15 Lakh and the 4kWh variant, priced at Rs 1.40 Lakh. Meanwhile, the OLA S1 pro-Gen 2 comes at Rs 1.30 Lakh due to subsidies and price adjustments. This makes the Gen 3 a more value-packed option, which offers better features without a significant price jump. Let’s have a look at the top new things in Gen 3 model.
The Gen 2 S1 Pro had a 4kWh battery and a stated IDC range of 195 km. The OLA S1 Pro Gen 3 goes even further with the option of two batteries, with a 3kWh unit that has a 176 km range and a 4kWh unit with a significantly increased 242 km range. Riders can travel farther distances with less need for recharging.
Both generations share the 11kW mid-mounted motor, but Gen 3 gets a 20% increase in maximum power. This means an improved top speed of 125 kmph compared to the Gen 2's 120 kmph. Ola has also tuned the throttle response that makes acceleration smoother and more refined.
The futuristic and minimalist design remains unchanged, but Ola has added subtle refinements in the Gen 3. It now comes with a new grab rail, refreshed colour options, and updated decals. The seat has been redesigned to be longer, offering better comfort for both the rider and passenger. Additionally, Ola has focused on improving the build quality.
One of the biggest additions in the Gen 3 is single-channel ABS, which was missing in the Gen 2. This makes braking safer, especially at higher speeds. Both models come with disc brakes on both wheels, but the Gen 3 introduces Ola’s patented ‘brake-by-wire’ technology, which uses sensors to optimise braking response. Additionally, the suspension and frame have been slightly upgraded for better durability and handling.
Both models feature a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display, but the Gen 3 leaps forward with MoveOS 5. This latest software update brings new features like a smartwatch app, Smart Park, Road Trip mode, and live location sharing. Ola scooter has also enhanced the integrated Motor Control Unit (MCU) for improved efficiency. A major upgrade in the Gen 3 is the reduction of electronic control units (ECUs) from four to just one, making the scooter’s systems more reliable and easier to maintain.
