Kawasaki KLX 230 Launched in India: Priced at Rs. 3.30 Lakh

Kawasaki has launched the KLX 230 in India, priced at Rs. 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The KLX 230 is Kawasaki’s smallest road-legal bike in India. It’s a dual-sport motorcycle designed for adventure lovers who enjoy both on and off-road rides. Let’s know more about this off-road bike in detail.

Powerful Engine with Dual-Channel ABS

The Kawasaki KLX 230 is fitted with a 233cc, air-cooled engine. This single-cylinder engine produces 18.1bhp and 18.3Nm of torque. Moreover, it’s paired with a 6-speed gearbox for smooth riding on various terrains. The bike is also equipped with dual-channel ABS, which can be switched off for off-road riding.

Furthermore, the bike features long-travel suspension, with a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The front fork offers 240mm of travel, while the rear offers 250mm. The KLX 230 rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres.

Design and Features

The design of the KLX 230 is slim and rugged, typical of dual-sport motorcycles. It has a hexagonal headlight and a plastic cowling around it. The bike also features a tall fender, narrow seat, and upswept exhaust. For technology, it gets an LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity via the Kawasaki Rideology app.

In terms of safety, the bike comes with a switchable rear ABS, giving riders more control on different surfaces. The bike also has LED lights all around, which are bright and energy-efficient.

Competition and Pricing

The KLX 230 competes with the Hero Xpulse 200 4V, which is priced at Rs. 1.51 lakh. Though the Xpulse is more affordable, the Kawasaki KLX 230 offers more power and advanced features. Additionally, the Kawasaki is more expensive, which may make it harder for some buyers to justify the cost. In the same price range, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is another option, though it caters to a slightly different adventure segment.
