Honda PCX160 Set for India Debut? Design Patent Filed!

Honda may enter the high-end 160cc scooter market after submitting a design patent application for the PCX160 maxi-scooter in India. Although a formal launch date has not yet been announced. Moreover, it is a replacement of the PCX150, which was launched in 2020.

Moreover, with a slightly different design and a larger engine, it is also the PCX150's replacement.

The Honda PCX 160 is currently available in Southeast Asian nations, including Indonesia and the Philippines. After the indian launch, its direct competitors are the Hero Xoom 160 and the Yamaha Aerox 155. Let’s check out what features and specs the PCX160 offers in international markets.

The PCX 160 has a single-cylinder, 157cc, liquid-cooled engine that generates 15.5 bhp and 15 Nm of torque. Moreover, the scooter is mated with a V-Matic automatic gearbox. The scooter is designed to offer economy and performance, making it appropriate for short highway travels as well as city rides.

Honda PCX 160 Design & Chassis

The two-wheeler has a modern, maxi scooter-style styling. The PCX160's chassis consist of an underbone frame that is supported by rear dual shock absorbers and front telescopic forks. With a 14-inch front and 13-inch rear alloy wheel arrangement, it deviates slightly from the Aerox and Xoom's 14-14 setup. Additionally, Honda has installed a 220mm front disc and a 130mm rear drum for braking duties, with single-channel ABS as standard.

Honda PCX 160 Features

Among its features is a high-visibility LCD instrument cluster with a 3D bezel structure. It shows a V-belt replacement alert, a speedometer, a trip meter, a fuel gauge, a fuel efficiency readout, and a low battery indication.

A USB-C charging port, front cubby storage, a large 30-liter underseat storage, and keyless ignition are examples of convenience features. In addition, a long footboard allows for several riding postures, while the floor-mounted fuel tank adds to a lower centre of gravity.
