BMW M 1000 R Superbike Launched at Rs 33 Lakhs

BMW M 1000 R Superbike Launched at Rs 33 Lakhs

The M 1000 R, BMW's second M motorbike, has been launched in India. The M 1000 R receives its name from BMW M division of go-faster machines. However, this bike has more power than the S 1000 RR superbike, the M might just as readily stand for mad.

Specifications

The M 1000 R is powered by a 999cc inline 4, producing 212hp at 14,500 rpm, same as S 1000 RR. It is now the most potent naked production bike available. Besides, in the BMW lineup, it is only surpassed by the 212hp, fully faired M 1000 RR.

The M 1000 R replaces its 165hp engine with the bulging superbike motor, bringing in BMW’s Shift Cam variable valve timing technology. Despite producing best in segment power figures, the engine's 113 Nm torque is less than the Ducati Streetfighter V4’s 123 Nm torque. BMW claims to offer 280 kph top speed and the bike is capable of accelerating from 0-100kph in just 3.2 seconds.

Appearance & Overall Design

The design is characterized by distinctive paint jobs and a set of large front wings. BMW claims to have these winglets to improve downforce whether the bike is upright or leaned over. Additionally, the front fender is designed for duct cooling air onto the brake callipers & rotors

Price Availability in India

The price for the model starts at Rs 33 Lakhs. However, the M Competition pack costs an extra amount of Rs 5 Lakhs. This includes adjustable M footpegs, various carbon fibre & billet aluminium elements, carbon fibre wheels & more.

The M 1000 R costs Rs 16 Lakhs, less than the BMW M 1000 RR at this pricing and is about comparable to the Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP2 (Rs. 34.99 Lakhs). This looks like a fantastic deal comparatively, but the bike does cost around Rs 10 Lakhs, more than the top-of-the-line Pro M Sport edition of the S 1000 R. Additionally, the bike comes with carbon fibre wheels.

Pre-orders for the M 1000 R are already being accepted at all national BMW Motorrad stores, and delivery will start in January 2024.
