BMW is gearing up to bring the F 450 GS adventure bike to India by mid-2025. This middleweight adventure bike was recently showcased as a concept at EICMA 2024. The bike is being designed to meet stricter emission standards coming into effect next year.
The BMW F 450 GS is inspired by the much larger R 1300 GS. It has an angular front beak, neat radiator shrouds, a large fuel tank, and a slender rear section. At 175kg, it's light and easy to ride.
The F 450 GS comes with fully adjustable USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. Riders can opt for alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front end and 17 inches at the rear end or opt for tubeless wire-spoke wheels. Braking power is given by disc brakes mounted on both ends.
The bike will feature advanced electronic aids like traction control, dual-channel ABS with cornering ABS, and multiple ride modes. A TFT display will also feature to offer essential information and enhance the riding experience.
The BMW F 450 GS, known as the "baby GS" (excluding the 310 GS), features a brand-new 450cc parallel twin-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed gearbox. The engine delivers 48 BHP, which is higher than its main rival, the KTM 390 Adventure R.
The bike faces stiff competition from other models in the global market. Let’s check out the specifications below:
Specification | KTM 390 Adventure R | BMW F 450 GS |
Engine Displacement | 399cc, single-cylinder | 450cc, twin-cylinder |
Power Output | 45.3 BHP | 48 BHP |
Torque | 39 Nm | Not available |
Gearbox | 6-speed | 6-speed |
The F 450 GS is the main contender in the middle-weight adventure segment. The prices are still not revealed, but the idea of manufacturing in India could ensure its competitiveness. It may then target adventure bike enthusiasts who are in search of a powerful, light, and agile option.
