Auto Expo 2025 witnessed innovation in the world of automobiles. Among the exhibits were three flex-fuel bikes-Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel, TVS Raider 125 FFT, and Honda CB 300F Flex Fuel. These fuel-flex bikes will run on ethanol-blended fuels, which makes riding cleaner and more sustainable. Let's brief ourselves about these two-wheelers:
Fuel-Flex Technology enables automobiles to run with several types of fuel combinations. In most cases, this consists of petrol mixed with ethanol, which is a cleaner and more renewable type of fuel.
Flex-fuel engines are constructed to self-adapt to high ethanol levels, such as in E85 (85% ethanol, 15% petrol). It decreases carbon emissions and makes consumers less dependent on gasoline. Additionally, it affords users more flexible choices with environmentally friendly types of fuel.
Suzuki has launched its first flex-fuel sports bike in India, the Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel. This bike is priced at Rs. 2,16,500 (ex-showroom). It is now OBD2B compliant and can run on fuels with up to 85% ethanol.
The Gixxer SF 250 Flex Fuel is fitted with a 250cc liquid-cooled engine with 27.9PS of power and 22.5Nm of torque. It also comes with a 6-speed gearbox. In addition to the engine, it comes equipped with new fuel injectors, a fuel pump, and a fuel filter, which would enhance the acceptance of ethanol-blended fuel. Furthermore, it has two classy colour options - Metallic Mat Black No. 2 / Metallic Mat Bordeaux Red and Metallic Mat Black No. 2.
The TVS company also revealed the Raider 125 FFT, which is a flex-fuel edition of its sporty commuter bike. The bike has Flex-Fuel Technology (FFT) and uses E85. It has an air-cooled, 125cc single-cylinder engine that churns out 11.38PS and 11.2Nm of torque. The bike is also equipped with a 5-speed gearbox. While there's no official launch for the Raider FFT yet, it is expected to make its market debut in mid-2025.
Honda showcased the CB 300F Flex Fuel at the expo. It is already on sale in India for Rs. 1,70,000 (ex-showroom) and is available in Sports Red and Mat Axis Grey Metallic shades.
It uses a 293.52cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that puts out 24.8PS and 25.9Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and has a slip-and-assist clutch.
In addition, it has an ethanol indicator that identifies fuel blends above 85% ethanol. Modern amenities include an LCD instrument cluster, all-LED lighting, and traction control.
