Aprilia Tuono 457 vs RS 457: Unveiling the Differences

Aprilia has introduced the Tuono 457 in India, priced at Rs 3,95,000 (ex-showroom). This naked streetfighter shares its engine and core features with its faired sibling, the RS 457. The RS 457 is priced slightly higher at Rs 4,10,000. This difference reflects the additional features and design elements of the RS model. Let's explore these differences.

Distinctive Design

Aprilia Tuono 457
The Aprilia Tuono 457 boasts a new body that is different from Aprilia. It has a sturdy fuel tank with sleek components, which gives it a vintage streetfighter appearance. Of particular interest is that it has no windscreen or visor, highlighting its naked bike appearance.

Meanwhile, the RS 457 borrows concepts from Aprilia's larger motorcycles, the RS 660 and RSV4. It features aggressive, angular body lines with big fairings on both sides, giving it a sporty appearance. A classic sportbike visor assists in deflecting wind at high speeds.

Enhanced Low-End Acceleration

Aprilia RS 457 Both motorcycles feature a 457cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine developing 47 bhp at 9,400rpm and 43.5Nm at 6,700rpm. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch.

The Tuono 457 has a bigger 44-tooth rear sprocket, a tooth bigger than the Aprilia RS 457. This adjustment increases low-end torque and acceleration, which makes the Tuono quicker in traffic and at lower RPMs.

Ergonomics and Comfort

One of the biggest differences between the two bikes is rider comfort. The Tuono 457 has a more elevated, single handlebar that allows you to ride upright and comfortably when on the road. This is perfect for daily commuting and riding in town.

In contrast, the RS 457 has clip-on handlebars mounted low, which promotes a forward-scooped, aggressive riding position. Although this is a great position for the race track, it is not the most comfortable for longer city rides.
